Blog # 10

I really enjoyed this blog post and can relate to your problems inside the classroom. I believe that the cause of this problem is lack of individuality and creativity. It is so hard to pay attention and listen in a three hour class. No one can retain that much information in one setting. Its so important to incorporate new ways of teaching techniques. For so long we have been taught not to color outside the lines on a coloring sheet, and make sure to raise your hands. We have revolutionized each classroom to fit one persons' liking. Hopefully sometime soon we will all wake up and see the need for improvement inside the classroom.

  1. I agree with you! We as future educators, need to realize the importance of creativity in the classroom. Learning should not be routine. Every single day should be different! No one wants to have to sit in a classroom and do the same thing day in and day out. It's not fun and the child eventually loses interest. We need to make things interesting for our children and encourage them.

  2. Hey Jessica, I could not agree more that our educational system needs some work. I liked how you said the problem was a lack of individuality and creativity. While I don't think this constitutes the whole problem, I do believe it is part of it. We definitely need to keep up with today's ever changing world if we expect to keep our student's attention. What did you think of Dan Brown dropping out of school because his education was interfering with his learning? I think this could happen a lot more if something is not done. The change starts with us! Good luck in the rest of your studies!

  3. Jessica,
I am not sure what you are referring to. There were two assignments given for this blog, and you only did one. And I'm not sure which one you are talking about.
It seems that you did not understand that Tom Johnspn's post Don't Let Them Take the Pencils Home was a metaphor in which pencils were computers. I will complete my post Metaphors: What They Are and Why We Use Them (A Learning Opportunity) later this week. After this post appears on the Class Blog you will be required to leave a comment. Watch the Class Blog for further instructions.
