Mr. MClung's Special Assignment

Mr. McClung is an 8th grade teacher at Woodland Jr. High School located in Fayetteville Arkansas. He teaches social studies, history, computer application, and he is also a cross country coach. All of his information is located on his blog under the tab Mr. McClung. I really enjoyed reading Mr. McClung’s blog and was challenged in my way of teaching. I could tell that he draws his students in by introducing them to different themes and cultures that they would like to know about.

I really enjoyed his classroom rules. They are very challenging and fun. They give the students a chance to communicate their viewpoint and also communicate with their classmates. I also think that they show that he really enjoys his job and the students. The first thing everyone needs is positive energy. I believe this is so true. It is important for all negative ways and mindset be released inside a classroom. A classroom is a place of creativity so energy is always needed while creating new minds and thoughts.

His homework policies are very simple. He expects his students to turn their homework in on time at the end of class. If the students fail to do so, they will receive a loss of a letter grade. For example, one day late equals a High B instead of an A.
His classroom blog is said to be a vehicle that drives majority of the technology in the classroom. It is used as a daily newsletter that keeps parents, students and teachers informed about the current events inside the classroom. I think this is a great way to use technology. Not only is the student challenged but also the teacher and parents. Every person has their own specific role in helping the child prosper.

I reviewed the websites Convinceme .com and also Guysread.com. These are great and challenging websites that allow students to venture outside the classroom walls to become challenged in great ways. I think that these websites made Mr.McClung’s list because of his teaching method. He loves things that are positive and help students to become better learners. Both of these websites help students to learn on their own level.

Mr.McClung has tabs on his blog. These tabs make moving to and from different sites very easy and smooth. It also helps the organization of the website. He keeps his blog very simple but still fun and fool proof. This blog is different from many of the other blogs in its easiness to read. Many of the other blogs were very hard to maneuver through. I found this blog very organized and stable. It is also up to date with its material. Overall I really enjoyed his blog and I learned the importance of maintain a positive attitude and mindset.
